Main Street Program

The Texas Main Street Program, part of the Texas Historical Commission’s Community Heritage Development Division, helps Texas cities revitalize their historic downtown and neighborhood commercial districts by utilizing preservation and economic development strategies. Del Rio has been a proud Texas Main Street City since 2002, actively supporting expansion of the downtown economic base by assisting in recruiting more businesses to downtown, advertising available properties in the district, assisting with historic preservation efforts and streetscape improvements.

Vision

The Del Rio Main Street Program preserves and showcases historic downtown Del Rio, the heart of our community. For the benefit of present and future generations, the Main Street district secures our heritage and a lively pedestrian-friendly blend of commerce, entertainment, arts and education.

Mission

Interested and dedicated citizens throughout the community of Del Rio will collaborate with all levels of government, civic, and commercial organizations to forge partnerships honoring and realizing the Vision of the Del Rio Main Street Program. By revitalizing and preserving the central business district, partners will work toward an improved quality of life for the whole city, creating an attractive, bustling destination for residents, tourists and travelers.

The Main Street program is a partnership between the City and the Main Street Advisory Board, together they are dedicated to the restoration, preservation and promotion of downtown Del Rio and to its economic revitalization.

A five member committee comprises the board for the Main Street program. This board is volunteer staffed and represents merchants, building owners and interested parties in the area.
