The purpose of the Streets & Drainage Department is to maintain the City's thoroughfare infrastructure, to allow safe transport of people, goods and services in the City limits including:
- Maintaining over 218 centerline miles of streets
- 16 signalized intersections
- 4 flashing beacon intersections
- 6 school zone flashing beacons
- Over 30 miles of drainage channel for flood control
- Sweeping City streets
- Maintains the pavement markings of all City streets and City parking lots
